This year's SPAZ Christmas Bazaar was
our most successful ever!

We would like to thank those that made
it so fabulous.

Many thanks to Beth Athanassiadou,Sr. CAS Coordinator of the Inter-Baccalaureate
Diploma Programme at Geitonas School in Vari for arranging the sale of SPAZ raffle
tickets in the school with her students.
The ten students that took part collected a
grand total of 678 Euros.
SPAZ thanks them for doing such a great job.

They are:
Padeli  Chamogeorgakis, Christos Sidiropoulos, Nikos Drossos, Vretti Xintarakou,
Marietta Tzavara, Penelope Spanou, Michael Trontzos, Natalia Bolou, Villi Ieremia,
Iliana Tsardaloglou

We are pleased to announce that PADELI CHAMOGEORGAKI won one of the
autographed soccer footballs from Panathinaikos.

Our SPAZ Booth featured our 2010
calendar, which was a big hit this
year.  Thanks to Lucille and Dimitra
for all their hard work on putting it
together.  We also had CDs with
recipes for cat & dog food, created
by Sia, as well as cards, SPAZ
t-shirts, raffle tickets, and lots of
miscellaneous donated items.
Athens News and Athens Plus
donated free copies of their
newspapers which we also gave
out (thanks to both of them).

We are very proud of our
beautiful 2010 calendar!

Marietta, Kathy and Bill helped out at
the SPAZ booth

Elizabeth and Lucille took time out from
selling for a hug; they've been working
together in SPAZ for over 20 years!

A gathering of some of the SPAZ team
- left to right: Vassi, Elizabeth,
Alice-Ann, Lucille, Nikki

Alice-Anne organizes the
monasteraki table which is
always placed near the entrance.

always one of our best
money-makers and we thank
Alice-Anne, who has been
organizing and running it for about
15 years, and her team of workers,
including her husband.

There is always a rush of people
around the monasteraki table.....a
really crazy scene. Everyone loves it
because it is full of bargains and
treasures at ridiculously low prices.  As
they say, one person's junk is another
person's treasure.

We had over 100 prizes in the raffle
this year, thanks to the determination
of Nikki Clainos and her team of
helpers.  If you look at our
supporters
page, you will see a complete list of
all the companies, stores and
individuals who donated gifts. Thank
you...thank you..to all of them. Please
support them in return.  We also
appreciate and thank the students at
Geitonas and St. Lawrence for selling
raffle tickets for us.
Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and
AEK donated a number of items
- balls, t-shirts, etc. They were
all signed by the members of the
Greek soccer teams.

Thanks to Ulrika Edler for
organizing and collecting all the
autographed soccer team
articles; they were wonderful
gifts and helped make the raffle
our most successful ever.

Nikki Clainos was the SPAZ
Bazaar Coordinator this
year and did a fantastic job.

Yes...she was on the phone
a lot.

Tara did a great job doing face
painting on children.

There were booths outside as well
as inside and we had a number of
other charities selling items for
their groups; SPAZ always offers
free space to other charities.

The International Food Booth was very
popular as usual, thanks to Joanna
and her team. This year we also had a
tent for patrons to sit down and enjoy
their coffee and cake or lunch; thanks
to Fofi for organizing that.

Fofi and Tzela were the
cashiers in the
refreshment area

We added a chocolate
children but it also
appealed to older
chocolate lovers

Our hot dog team made
superb hot dogs, as usual.

And now, a word from those for
whom we work....

We had a great time at the SPAZ
bazaar this year. Everyone paid
lots of attention to us and took our
pictures and made a big fuss of us.
That was nice. But we realize that
there is a very serious side to this
bazaar.  You need to make money
to continue helping dogs and cats
in need, and we want to thank you
for all of them.  All of us live with
really nice humans but we know
that there are many more out there
not as lucky as us. Please SPAZ,
keep working for us.  We need you.

Beau - "This is my picture in the
calendar - I'm July! I'm famous."

"That's me in the boy's arms. I'm
only 40 days old and I like to be
hugged. I liked the bazaar a lot."

"I'm the only kitten at this bazaar.
It's really noisy here but I feel safe
in my friends arms. Can we go
home soon."

"Hi, I'm Scotty and I hate to be held
and I'm not too crazy about getting
my picture taken either...but there
are a lot of nice people here so I'll
try and smile."

"My name is Harris and I live with
Efie (who ran the tomboula booth
for SPAZ) and I like having my
picture taken. Thank you SPAZ. I'm
having fun today."

"I'm Ziggy and I won a porcelain
tea set in the raffle! I'm not sure
something. Thank you SPAZ.

"I'm working outside with my friend
helping to raise money for SPAZ.  I
don't know much about them but
they seem like a nice group. Oh,
my name is Lady. I hear they help
dogs so I hope they do well."

"Someone came up to me and
asked to take my picture so I
posed.  I'm not sure what a bazaar
is but it sure is busy here. I heard
that they help dogs (Lady told me)
so that's good. My name is Marko."
